The goal of the Progressive Portland scorecard is simple: to provide Portland voters basic information about their councilors’ voting records. This information is critical to help voters be able to evaluate their councilors’ performance and to be able to hold them to promises they have made in the past or are making for the future. This transparency is critical to a functioning democracy.

We recognize that not everyone will agree with our view of what the progressive position is on every vote. That’s okay. You can read through the votes and decide for yourself which councilors best represent your views.

Last summer, Portland voters answered the call to open the charter so we can abolish the city manager position and lay the foundation for a more equitable future. I am glad Progressive Portland was on the front lines.

We were proud to have played a part in passing all the initiatives in 2020 by producing and mailing an election scorecard and by pushing out our allies’ messages. We hope these overwhelming victories at the ballot box will finally convince the Council what we have been saying for years. This city is more progressive than the policies this Council enacts.

We won increased wages, more housing, tenant and worker rights, and climate justice. But who’s keeping score? Progressive Portland!
